Year 1 had a great opportunity to practise their tennis skills this afternoon with coaches from Bellingham tennis club. We played lots of different games in pairs with a racket and a ball. As you can see from the photographs we had so much fun!
This week in Year one we are measuring length and height. Today we had to use the words longer and shorter. We had to find objects in the classroom that were longer or shorter than a ruler.
Today we had some visitors in our classroom. They talked to us about Chinese New Year. We found out how and why people celebrate Chinese New Year. Then we had lots of fun learning a song and a dance.
Today in English we read the story of Chinese New Year. In groups we used our speaking and listening skills to act out and retell the story.
This week Year 1 are exploring addition and subtraction. Today we have been using the ten frames and counters to work out the missing numbers in the sums.
Today we learned all about how archaeologists found dinosaur bones and fossils. We learned that this is how we know that dinosaurs existed. Year one used pictures of dinosaur skeletons and dry pasta to create our own dinosaur skeletons.
